Director of Outreach, Center for Engineering Education Outreach,
Tufts University, USA
Elissa Milto is Director of Outreach at Tufts University Center for Engineering Education and Outreach (CEEO). As Director of Outreach, Elissa works to provide schools, teachers, other organizations and students with engineering design opportunities. She works to support teachers as they bring engineering with messy, ill-defined problems into their classrooms. She is program manager for Novel Engineering and oversees STOMP and the Design and Engineering Workshops. She is particularly interested in using open-ended, client-centered problems to bring engineering to elementary and middle school students, exploring ways that students with different learning styles and interests can become excited by and access engineering. As part of this work, she looks at how user-centered design can help students with autism spectrum disorder improve social interactions.
